IIBA Certification Study Group — Underlying Competencies and Perspectives

Thursday, October 12, 2023 -
6:00pm to 9:00pm

This is the ninth session of the Vancouver Chapter IIBA certification study group sessions in 2023. The purpose of these sessions is to help BAs understand and achieve International Institute of Business Analysis™ (IIBA®) certifications. At these sessions, participants will review and discuss key concepts, knowledge and skills, and share experiences in business analysis practices. The study group includes 10 monthly drop-in sessions, ending in December.

This session will cover the BABOK® Guide Chapter 9: Underlying Competencies. The chapter describes the behaviours, characteristics, knowledge, and personal qualities necessary to be an accomplished and adaptable business analyst.

Please note: Study session participants will receive a promo code for 40% off the subscription to the online study exam at www.watermarkexams.com.

Materials and Prework
To make the most of the session, please come ready with your business analysis-related education from the past four years and work experience from the past ten years. Also, review the BABOK® Guide version 3 in advance, particularly the knowledge areas. An online version is available at no cost to IIBA members through the IIBA Website. Non-members can purchase a PDF, ePub or Kindle version at the IIBA Website or a printed copy on Amazon.

Facilitator

This session will be facilitated by Dr. Peter Riddell. As a researcher and management consultant with a doctoral degree in R&D for large strategic projects (Grenoble Ecole de Management), Dr. Peter Riddell has developed unique models to aid clients conducting R&D within a non-laboratory business setting.

With the Project Manager Professional (PMP) designation, the Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP) certification and risk management certifications from the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), Dr. Riddell can see experimental innovation from different viewpoints of project management, business analysis and risk.

He started his study of R&D in a business context with an MBA in Digital Technologies Management from Royal Roads University and a BTech degree in Forensic Investigation from the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT).
