IIBA Certification Study Group — Introduction to the Study Group & BABOK Chapters 1 & 2
This is the first session of the Vancouver Chapter IIBA certification study group sessions in 2024. The purpose of these sessions is to help BAs understand and achieve International Institute of Business Analysis™ (IIBA®) certifications. At these sessions, participants will review and discuss key concepts, knowledge and skills, and share experiences in business analysis practices. The study group will host 10 monthly sessions, ending in November.
This virtual study group session will explore chapters 1 and 2 of the BABOK® Guide. Chapter 1 introduces the BABOK® Guide, what business analysis is, and who business analysts are. Chapter 2 provides a foundation for all other content, concepts, and ideas within the BABOK® Guide.
Materials and Prework
Participants should bring a copy of the BABOK® Guide version 3, available online at no cost for IIBA members (IIBA Website). Non-members can purchase a PDF, ePub or Kindle version at the IIBA Website or a printed copy on Amazon. To facilitate an effective study, we ask participants to read Chapter 1 and 2 in advance and send any questions to development@vancouver.iiba.org.
Facilitator
This session will be facilitated by Dr. Peter Riddell. As a researcher and management consultant with a doctoral degree in R&D for large strategic projects (Grenoble Ecole de Management), Dr. Peter Riddell has developed unique models to aid clients conducting R&D within a non-laboratory business setting.
With the Project Manager Professional (PMP) designation, the Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP) certification and risk management certifications from the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), Dr. Riddell can see experimental innovation from different viewpoints of project management, business analysis and risk.
He started his study of R&D in a business context with an MBA in Digital Technologies Management from Royal Roads University and a BTech degree in Forensic Investigation from the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT).
