IIBA Certification Study Group — BABOK Chapter 7: Requirements Analysis & Design Definition
This is the sixth session of the Vancouver Chapter IIBA certification study group sessions in 2023. The purpose of these sessions is to help BAs understand and achieve International Institute of Business Analysis™ (IIBA®) certifications. At these sessions, participants will review and discuss key concepts, knowledge and skills, and share experiences in business analysis practices. The study group includes 10 monthly drop-in sessions, ending in November.
This session will explore the BABOK® Guide Chapter 7: Requirements Analysis & Design Definition which explores how to:
- structure and organise requirements discovered during elicitation activities,
- specify and model requirements and designs,
- validate and verify information,
- identify solution options that meet business needs, and
- estimate the potential value that could be realized for each solution option.

Materials and Prework
To make the most of the session, please read chapter 7 of the BABOK® Guide version 3 in advance. An online version is available at no cost to IIBA members through the IIBA Website. Non-members can purchase a PDF, ePub or Kindle version at the IIBA Website or a printed copy on Amazon.
This session will be facilitated by Hossam Eddeen Saleh. Hossam is an international consultant, instructor and speaker for project management and business analysis and founder of Strategic Management Experts (SM-Experts), Canada, a specialized firm in providing corporate consulting services and training for corporates and public. He started his career as an architect and has built extensive experience managing projects and leading fast developing organizations. Hossam is CBAP, PMI-PBA, PMP, PgMP, ASF, LEED AP certified.
