BABOK Chapter 6: Strategy Analysis

Facilitator: Margaret Kuan, MBA, CBAP

This is the fifth session of the IIBA certification study group sessions in 2022. The purpose of these sessions is to help BAs understand and achieve International Institute of Business Analysis™ (IIBA®) certifications. At these sessions, participants will review and discuss key concepts, knowledge and skills, and share experiences in business analysis practices. The 10 monthly sessions will continue until December 2022.

Chapter 6 explains the tasks that business analysts perform to collaborate with stakeholders to identify a need of strategic or tactical importance, enable the enterprise to address that need, and align the resulting strategy for the change with higher and lower-level strategies.

This session will be facilitated by Margaret Kuan. Margaret has over 15 years of experience in management consulting, with a specialization in strategic planning, business process management, strategic implementation of technology, business analysis methodologies, requirements engineering and change management. Margaret has worked at various private and public organizations in the insurance, auction operations, telecommunications and education sector. Margaret has a Bachelor of Social Sciences degree from the University of Hong Kong and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of British Columbia.
 
Materials and Prework
Participants should bring a copy of the BABOK® Guide version 3, available online at no cost for IIBA members (IIBA Website). Non-members can purchase a PDF, ePub or Kindle version at the IIBA Website or a printed copy on Amazon. To facilitate an effective study, we ask participants to read Chapter 5 in advance and send any questions to development@vancouver.iiba.org.
