IIBA Certification Study Group Session 6

BABOK Chapter 7: Requirements Analysis and Design Definition

This is the sixth study session of 2021. The purpose of these sessions is to help BAs understand and achieve International Institute of Business Analysis™ (IIBA®) certifications. At these sessions, participants will review and discuss key concepts, knowledge and skills, and share experiences in business analysis practices. 9 monthly sessions will continue until November 2021. You do not have to have attended the previous sessions to attend this one.

The sessions are based on A Guide to the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge® (BABOK® Guide) version 3.

Chapter 7 describes the tasks that business analysts perform to structure and organize requirements discovered during elicitation activities, specify and model requirements and designs, validate and verify information, identify solution options that meet business needs, and estimate the potential value that could be realized for each solution option. (BABOK® Guide)

This session will be facilitated by Harvinder Pal Singh and Sergey Pochikovskiy.

Harvinder is a Senior Consultant at Central 1 Credit Union. He has 13 years of experience in the banking and financial industry with most of it working as a Business Analyst / Project Manager with major global banks like Bank of America, Royal Bank of Scotland and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation. His expertise lies in implementing new systems from scratch or enhancing existing systems to ensure regulatory compliance, increase operational efficiency or drive business growth. In his current role, he is implementing new-age digital banking platforms for large and small credit unions and is also working on projects to upgrade the client’s banking host systems. Harvinder is CBAP certified and volunteers for the IIBA Vancouver Chapter as their Director of Professional Development. He is responsible for driving the monthly Business Analysis Study Groups and loves sharing his exam preparation hacks with the attendees.

Sergey is CBAP ® certified professional with solid business analysis and project management experience in the financial industry. Sergey worked for 6 years in a European bank before moving to Canada. Here he worked with credit unions first as a Business Analyst, later as a consultant, Product Manager at a Fintech startup, and currently as a Director of Customer Success at a digital collective company facilitating the digital transformation of the Canadian financial industry. Passionate about constant learning and personal development, Sergey obtained Master’s degree in Finance and Credit and recently finished MBA at Sauder School of Business.
