Introduction to the Study Group & IIBA Certification Chapters 1 & 2

This is the first study session of 2021. The purpose of these sessions is to help BAs understand and achieve the International Institute of Business Analysis™ (IIBA®) certifications. At these sessions, participants will review and discuss key concepts, knowledge, and skills, and share experiences in business analysis practices. You do not have to have attended the first session to attend this one.

The sessions are based on A Guide to the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge® (BABOK® Guide) version 3.

Chapter 1 introduces the BABOK® Guide and explains what business analysis is and who a business analyst is.

Chapter 2 includes information that provides a foundation for all other content, concepts, and ideas within the BABOK® Guide.

This session will be facilitated by Priyanka Agrawal. She is a focused and results-oriented Management Consultant with a proven track record in aligning IT solutions to business needs, promoting change through strategic projects, and delivering critical business process improvements while leading projects to success. With over 20 years of work experience, Priyanka has applied her skills to both the government and private-sector.

Priyanka possesses an in-depth understanding of Information Technology and a breath of experience in industries including Business intelligence, Municipality, Utilities, and Healthcare. Since finishing her Master’s degree in Computer Science at the University of Victoria, Priyanka became a Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP®) and Certified Prosci Change Management Practitioner. Priyanka is a trained Six Sigma Yellow Belt and ITIL certified. Priyanka was a Board Director at the International Institute of Business Analysis, Vancouver. As a published author and recurring ProjectWorldBAWorld conference Speaker and Advisor, Priyanka demonstrates passion in her field of Business Analysis and Transformation.

Priyanka founded her own consulting firm called PA the BA™ providing Business Analysis related consulting and academic services. Priyanka designed the curriculum and authored the Agile Business Analysis course for the UofManitoba and the Fundamentals of Business Analysis course for Simon Fraser University. She is currently employed as an Instructor of Business Analysis at Simon Fraser University and a Senior Specialist in the IT Strategy department at TransLink.

Materials and Pre-work

Participants should use a copy of the BABOK® Guide version 3, available online at no cost for IIBA members (IIBA Website). Non-members can purchase a PDF, ePub or Kindle version at the IIBA Website or a printed copy on Amazon. To facilitate an effective study, we ask participants to read Chapters 1 and 2 in advance and send any questions to development@vancouver.iiba.org.

• Zoom details will be provided half-hour prior to the event to the registrants.

Participants are required to use their full name when logging in for Registration and CDU/PDU tracking.
