Introduction to the Study Group & IIBA Certification
BABOK Chapter 3: Business Analysis Planning and Monitoring
This is the second study session of 2020. The purpose of these sessions is to help BAs understand and achieve International Institute of Business Analysis™ (IIBA®) certifications. At these sessions, participants will review and discuss key concepts, knowledge and skills, and share experiences in business analysis practices. You do not have to have attended the first session to attend this one.
The sessions are based on A Guide to the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge® (BABOK® Guide) version 3.
Chapter 3 explains the tasks for planning business analysis approach, stakeholder engagement, business analysis governance and information management.
This session will be facilitated by Jorge Vega, CBAP® with over 22 years of experience in the software industry and business analysis. He has worked for a variety of international organizations such as Boeing and AT&T, and he currently doing business analysis consulting for the Praxis Spinal Cord Institute. Jorge has been a key business analyst/consultant for software sustainment, software development, and off-the- shelf software implementation projects. Jorge was the VP of Professional Development for the IIBA Vancouver Chapter between 2015 and 2016.
Materials and Pre-work
Participants should bring a copy of the BABOK®; Guide version 3, available online at no cost for IIBA members (IIBA Website). Non-members can purchase a PDF, ePub or Kindle version at the IIBA Website or a printed copy on Amazon. To facilitate an effective study, we ask participants to read Chapter 3 in advance and send any questions to development@vancouver.iiba.org.
