This month, we're excited to feature Sid Arya, who leads the IIBA Vancouver Chapter as their President.
Sid is a seasoned technology leader with over 27 years of experience in consulting and industry, combining strategic vision with hands-on expertise. He has a proven track record of driving business success through innovative IT solutions, particularly in complex digital transformation, data & analytics. ππ‘ His extensive international experience across Southeast Asia, Australia/New Zealand, Canada, and the USA has sharpened his leadership skills and ability to navigate diverse cultural and business landscapes. π
Sid is known for his energetic leadership, talent development, and relationship-building expertise. As a recognized thought leader, he frequently speaks at technology conferences, sharing valuable insights on digital innovation and analytics. π€π
Today, we asked Sid two key questions:
Q1: What moment/project was the most impactful in your career trajectory and why?
Sid: One of my most impactful projects was leading a digital transformation program in 2007 for a home healthcare enterprise in Australia. It reinforced the power of business analysis, process alignment, and leveraging technology to drive business outcomes while highlighting the critical role of managing change at a human level. π»
Q2: Looking back, what would you have done better and what would you advise the younger generation to do to succeed in their career?
Sid: Looking back, I would have placed greater emphasis on networking and relationship building, recognizing their immense value in career growth and opportunities. π€ Strong professional connections can open doors, provide mentorship, and accelerate success in ways that technical expertise alone cannot.

Additionally, I would have invested earlier in the learnings from the BRM Institute, which offers invaluable insights into bridging the gap between business and technology, driving strategic partnerships, and maximizing business value. π For the younger generation, my advice is to prioritize building meaningful relationships, continuously invest in learning, and develop a strong business mindset alongside technical skills. ππ
With this excellent example of strategic vision and professional excellence, we want to encourage you to step up in your career this year. Whether itβs taking on new challenges or seeking mentorship, let Sidβs journey inspire your own professional growth. π
