Introduction to Blockchain
The meteoric rise of the price of Bitcoin has brought a lot of attention to cryptocurrency and with it, an entire new set of buzzwords and business ideas. The purpose of this session is to explain the underlying technology behind cryptocurrency (known as Blockchain) and explore the usage of the technology outside of cryptocurrency systems.
IBM, Microsoft, Deloitte, BC LTSA, to name a few companies, are all working to develop Blockchain platforms that enable decentralized, trustless peer to peer transactions. Many companies at risk of disruption are seeking to gain a better understanding of the technology. As with any technology, there are appropriate and inappropriate applications of the technology as well implementations we have yet to explore. Business Analysts may be called upon to perform a deeper investigations into Blockchain as a part of feasibility analysis, proposals or test projects. This session will provide the base knowledge to begin those investigations.
Andrew Rose has been interested in the Blockchain space since 2010. He originally bought Bitcoin for $0.08 per coin and sold them far too early! He is active in the local Vancouver Blockchain community and would like to pass his knowledge on to his Business Analyst peers. Andrew has been in software product development for 20 years and consults as a Business Analyst, Product Owner, Scrum Master, Agile Transformation Specialist, Workshop Facilitator and Conference Speaker.
