BABOK Chapter 7: Requirements Analysis and Design Definition

This is the sixth study session of 2019. The purpose of these sessions is to help BAs understand and achieve International Institute of Business Analysis™ (IIBA®) certifications. At these sessions, participants will review and discuss key concepts, knowledge and skills, and share experiences in business analysis practices. Nine monthly sessions will continue until November 2019. You do not have to have attended the first session to attend this one.

The sessions are based on A Guide to the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge® (BABOK® Guide) version 3.

Chapter 7 describes the tasks that business analysts perform to structure and organize requirements discovered during elicitation activities, specify and model requirements and designs, validate and verify information, identify solution options that meet business needs, and estimate the potential value that could be realized for each solution option. (BABOK® Guide)

This session will be facilitated by Hossam Eddeen Saleh. Hossam is an international consultant, instructor and speaker for project management and business analysis and founder of Strategic Management Experts (SM-Experts), Canada, a specialized firm in providing corporate consulting services and training for corporates and public. He started his career as an architect and has built extensive experience managing projects and leading fast developing organizations. Hossam is PMP, CBAP, PMI-PBA, CPM, LEED AP certified.

Materials and Pre-work

Participants should bring a copy of the BABOK® Guide version 3, available online at no cost for IIBA members (IIBA Website). Non-members can purchase a PDF, ePub or Kindle version at the IIBA Website or a printed copy on Amazon. To facilitate an effective study, we ask participants to read Chapter 7 in advance and send any questions to development@vancouver.iiba.org.
