Speaker Event: Data Warehousing: Business Analyst Pitfalls & Possibilities

Thursday, January 26, 2023 -
6:00pm to 8:00pm

A data warehouse is a system that aggregates data from multiple sources to support reporting, data analysis, and other activities.

Many data warehouse projects over-promise and under-deliver. This talk will cover some of the things that a business analyst should consider before jumping in.

Speaker Tom Birch will explore the structural differences between transactional databases and data warehouses, then will look at how to bridge from operational to corporate data.

About the speaker

Tom Birch is the Manager of Manufacturing Systems at Canfor, in the Wood Products Canada division. Tom has a long career in forestry data systems in both Canada and the USA. He has a B.TH. from Trinity Western University. He is also a member of Mensa and has written three books.
