BABOK Chapter 8: Solution Evaluation

This is the eighth study session of 2021. The purpose of these sessions is to help BAs understand and achieve International Institute of Business Analysis™ (IIBA®) certifications. At these sessions, participants will review and discuss key concepts, knowledge and skills, and share experiences in business analysis practices. 9 monthly sessions will continue until November 2021. You do not have to have attended the previous sessions to attend this one.

The sessions are based on A Guide to the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge® (BABOK® Guide) version 3.

Chapter 8 describes tasks that business analysts perform to assess the performance of and value delivered by a solution in use by the enterprise, and to recommend removal of barriers or constraints that prevent the full realization of the value. (BABOK® Guide)

This session will be facilitated by Holly Zhang has over 25 years of experience in information technology development, business analysis and adult education. She had taught various courses in information technology at university level for six years in China before she came to Canada in 1992. She started teaching for the UBC Sauder Continuing Business Studies’ Business Analysis certificate program in 2013.

Ms. Zhang’s experience includes enterprise analysis, business process improvement, requirements elicitation, analysis and documentation, user acceptance testing, system support and change management. She has managed strategic initiatives, process improvement and information system implementation projects. She has also presented at the BA World conference.

Ms. Zhang actively participates in the community. She has served as VP Memberships and VP Professional Development and is currently the President for the IIBA Vancouver Chapter. She also mentors and coaches fellow business analysts.

Ms. Zhang holds a bachelor and a master’s degree in Computer Engineering from China and an MBA from the University of British Columbia. She is a Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP®), a Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM®), a certified Prosci change management practitioner, a certified SAFe 5 Practitioner and a certified SAFe 5 Agile Product Management from Scaled Agile.

Materials and Pre-work

Participants should bring a copy of the BABOK® Guide version 3, available online at no cost for IIBA members (IIBA Website). Non-members can purchase a PDF, ePub or Kindle version at the IIBA Website or a printed copy on Amazon. To facilitate an effective study, we ask participants to read Chapter 8 in advance and send any questions to development@vancouver.iiba.org.

  • Thursday, September 9, 2021, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm PDT
  • Zoom details will be provided half-hour prior to the event to the registrants.

Participants are required to use their full name when logging in for Registration and CDU/PDU tracking.
