After years of working in finance and operations, Mandana realized that the work she found most fulfilling — understanding problems, improving processes, and helping teams work better — was business analysis. Discovering the BA profession brought clarity, structure, and a clear career direction.
Preparing for the ECBA certification helped Mandana connect her hands-on experience with the structured framework of the BABOK® Guide, strengthening her understanding of requirements elicitation, stakeholder engagement, and value-driven analysis. While adapting to BABOK® terminology was initially challenging, grounding concepts in real project experiences made the learning both practical and meaningful.
Earning the ECBA has been a significant confidence boost as Mandana transitions toward her first formal BA role, reinforcing her ability to bridge business and technology — particularly with her ERP and systems background. Support from IIBA Vancouver, including study sessions and community resources, played a meaningful role in her certification journey and professional growth.
💡 Mandana’s advice for aspiring Business Analysts:
"Start before you feel “ready.” Many professionals are already doing BA work without realizing it. Connect the BABOK® to real experiences, and get involved in the BA community — it makes a real difference."
Congratulations, Mandana, on this well-deserved achievement. We’re excited to see what’s ahead in your BA journey.
