The purpose of these sessions is to help BAs understand and achieve International Institute of Business Analysis™ (IIBA®) certifications. At these sessions, participants will review and discuss key concepts, knowledge and skills, and share experiences in business analysis practices.

The sessions are based on A Guide to the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge® (BABOK® Guide) version 3. 
Chapter 5 explains the tasks that business analysts perform to translate all types of information and elicitation results into more organized and structured forms of requirements and designs. This includes exploring and understanding the proper use of different models, diagrams and matrices in addition to decision making techniques.
 
This session will be facilitated by Jorge Vega, CBAP® with 20+ years of experience in the software industry and business analysis. He has worked for a variety of international organizations such as Boeing and AT&T, and he currently doing senior business analysis consulting for Teck Resources Limited. Jorge has been a key business analyst/consultant for software sustainment, software development, and off-the-shelf software implementation projects. Jorge was the VP of Professional Development for the IIBA Vancouver Chapter between 2015 and 2016.
 
Materials and Prework
Participants should bring a copy of the BABOK® Guide version 3, available online at no cost for IIBA members (IIBA Website). Non-members can purchase a PDF, ePub or Kindle version at the IIBA Website or a printed copy on Amazon. To facilitate an effective study, we ask participants to read Chapter 5 in advance and send any questions to development@vancouver.iiba.org.
